PCT mile 604

Slept poorly due to the roar and whine of windmills close by. They continued near the trail for the next 6 or 7 miles, so there was really no escaping them.

The morning’s walk was another Mordor-walk: nothing but dead, burnt trees. I don’t think I’ve gone as long as two days without passing through a burn area.

Once out of the burn, the terrain was delightful, a mix of pine and oak forests, and some of the pines were quite large.

But the area is also quite dry. It was 18 miles to water at Robin Bird Spring. I walked a couple miles further and made camp in a nice grove of Jeffery pines, which helped block the increasingly blustery wind. A pleasant enough day.
