Anti-socialist President proposes outsourcing drug pricing to socialist death panels

On October 10th, President Trump issued a ringing denunciation (which he totally wrote himself) of socialism in general and socialized health care in particular: “Virtually everywhere it has been tried, socialism has brought suffering, misery and decay.” Socialism’s latest threat? To destroy socialized medicine for seniors in the US. If given the chance, socialists will “…give total power and control over seniors’ health care decisions to the bureaucrats in Washington, D.C.”

Those darn socialists. We are fortunate indeed to have a President alert to such dangers. Who else would have even considered the possibility of a socialist threat to socialized medicine?

Now our clear-thinking President is going a step further in thwarting the plans of the socialists. He will solve the problem of high drug prices in the US by imposing price controls. And who will set these prices? Foreign governments. You know, the ones run by socialists. And not just any socialists – the job will be done by their death panels. The teams of faceless government bureaucrats who have been given total power and control over citizens’ health care decisions.

The most notorious of these is NICE, the UK’s Death Panel that heartlessly rejects miracle cancer breakthroughs because they are not sufficiently cost-effective. Thank God we live in a country where we can pay $100K and more for innovative new cancer drugs that add a month or two to survival. That’s why American seniors live so much longer than Britons:

Data from Health status – Life expectancy at 65 – OECD Data

Oh wait. That used to be true, but hasn’t been for a couple of decades. More socialist tricks!

But I am sure that his is a well thought-out plan, not a headline-grabbing PR stunt launched to defuse a losing issue just before an election and ignored thereafter. Only socialists would do something that cynical.
